3TB Hard Drive support advice from Flash Duplication Systems

Can’t Backup 3TB HDD? If you were among the early adopters of 3TB HDDs, you probably had struggled a bit booting from your new drive unless you had all the right combinations of OS and BIOS to start with. Copying a 3TB HDD with a HDD duplicator could be just as tricky. Similar to the support from your OS, BIOS and HDD driver, a firmware upgrade on a duplicator such as UReach’s 1-1 Pro118 will be required to handle the 3TB challenge. If you’re not yet familiar with the 3TB issue, think about the license plates on all vehicles—if each is allowed only to have exactly 5 digits (0-9 without alphabets) once registered, the maximum number of cars that can be uniquely identified by such license plates will be 10 -power 5=100,000. Similarly, under the limited 32-bit structure adopted in legacy systems to address disk space, there could only be as large as 2.2TB (we’ll spare you the calculation) recognized; therefore, to extend beyond this limit, the addressing scheme has to be improved and agreed upon by all relevant components, which is certainly not a trivial task and unfortunately, not all systems are created equal moving forward.

USB Flash Drive vs. SD Card

The USB flash drive versus SD card: they’re small, portable and used to transfer and store files. Their differences are noteworthy, but they are hardly rivals in the world of NAND flash storage. It is important however to distinguish what makes these memory formats unique so that you can use each of them to their fullest potential.
USB flash drive
USB drives are removable storage devices equipped with flash memory capabilities and a USB connector. They are compatible with any system that offers a USB port, including Windows, Mac and Linux. They can store anywhere between 128MB to 256GB of data. While most flash drives use USB 2.0, some newer drives on the market offer USB 3.0 with ten times the data transfer speed that we currently use.

SD Card
The (Secure Digital) SD card also uses non-volatile memory like flash drives. SD cards are an integral part of many devices including digital cameras, phones, MP3 players and game consoles. The average SD cards offer 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities but can reach up to 32GB. (Lexar recently started shipping 128GB SDXC cards.)
These memory cards look like an asymmetrical, rectangular wafer with contact pins whose physical size ranges between 11mm to 32mm long depending on the type of SD card you are using. SD, miniSD, microSD, SDHC, miniSDHC, microSDHC, SDXC and microSDXC are your available options. Herein lies the biggest disadvantage to SD cards: it lacks the universal compatibility of a flash drive. Not every card slot built in every computer system will read all the cards. As a result, you will likely need to use a card reader.

There’s not a clear winner in terms of flash memory formats here. On one hand, you can’t operate your multimedia devices without an SD card. On the other hand a USB flash drive is superior in its ability to work seamlessly with your operating system. USB drives also broaden the scope of who can use them and where. Custom USB drives can also be used for the promotion of businesses and organizations alongside your basic data storage and transfers. U-Reach declares Computex 2011 an outstanding success

U-Reach, the Taipei based Duplicator manufacturer, has strengthened its position as one of the world’s leading forces in its sector.
A prominent position in the Nangang Exhibition Hall attracted over five hundred visitors onto its booth.
The iShare series which supports flash to disc duplication was of particular interest, offering yet another stand alone solution to media copying, at speed and in quantity.
Also on show were the flash duplicators. In addition to their copying capabilities customers were able to see their diagnostic features, a necessary tool for successful flash duplication.
As well as its full range of traditional optical duplicators on show the sales team were able to demonstrate the remarkably easy operation of their hand held devices.
U-Reach were also showcasing its latest product the AP 100 copy protect publisher tool which will expand the company’s customer base beyond its already established market.
